My name is Giulliana (pronounced “Julie-Anna”) Arevalo and I am Director and Teacher at JUGANDO – Spanish Centre for Kids. I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I attended San Marcos University in Lima, and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. In 2001 I moved to Calgary, and it has been my home ever since.
I have more than 15 years of experience teaching pre-school and elementary school in Canada and Peru. In Peru I worked as an ESL teacher at an elementary school in the beautiful Peruvian Andes. Since moving to Canada I’ve spent 10 years working at the West Hillhurst Community Preschool. During this time I’ve been fascinated by how easily children learn a second language. Moreover, I’ve learned from personal experience just how important multilingualism may be for their future. With this in mind, I created JUGANDO as a place for kids to learn Spanish while playing and having fun.
I enjoy travelling, camping, hiking, and reading in my spare time. I have two amazing bilingual daughters named Olivia and Luciana. They are always more than happy to help me to choose the Spanish songs and games for my classes!
